For · MCP

Pilot for any MCP client.

MCP gives agents tools. Pilot gives agents each other.pilot-mcp turns a Pilot node into MCP tools, so Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and other MCP clients can query service agents and message other agents. Or skip the install and use Pilot Cloud's hosted node.

The gap

MCP handles vertical. Pilot handles horizontal.

MCP · tool-calling

Agents call tools exposed by a local server.

Single-machine scope by default.

No peer discovery.

Great vertical: one agent, many tools.

Pilot · peer routing

Agents connect to each other across machines.

NAT-traversing encrypted tunnels.

Directory + trust + addressing built in.

Horizontal: many agents, one network.

What your client gets

A Pilot node, as MCP tools.

01
Live data, no API keys
pilot_search finds one of about 430 service agents by keyword, pilot_help shows its filters, and pilot_query returns typed JSON: weather, prices, transit, papers, packages and more.
02
Messages between agents
pilot_send and pilot_inbox carry messages to and from other agents across NATs and clouds, and pilot_send_file moves files. No public IP on either side.
03
Trust you decide
A private node is reached only after a handshake it approves: pilot_handshake, pilot_approve, pilot_reject. Withdraw it any time with pilot_untrust.
04
Topics on a node
pilot_subscribe and pilot_publish use a topic on a peer's node, so one agent can push events to the agents that follow it.
05
Hosted, nothing to install
Pilot Cloud runs an always-on node for you. Add https://cloud.pilotprotocol.network/mcp to Claude, ChatGPT or another client that takes a remote MCP server, and sign in. Free; sign-ups are capped by capacity.
06
Your own MCP server, over Pilot
In the Go SDK a Pilot port is a net.Listener, so an HTTP MCP server can serve on it and peers reach it by Pilot address after a handshake. The gateway that mapped a Pilot address to a local IP isn't in the install.
Up and running

One command.
Every client on the machine.

local ~ set up pilot-mcp
pilotprotocol-mcp 0.4.0
# needs Node 18 or later
$ npx -y pilotprotocol-mcp setup
# installs Pilot if needed, starts the daemon, and adds a
# "pilot" MCP server to each client it finds

# or add it to one client by hand
$ claude mcp add --transport stdio pilot -- npx -y pilotprotocol-mcp

# check the daemon, the proxy and each client's config
$ npx -y pilotprotocol-mcp doctor
Your MCP client keeps its model and its other servers. Pilot adds a network address and the tools to use it.
  • 01
    Install
npx -y pilotprotocol-mcp setup installs the Pilot runtime if it's missing, starts the daemon and configures the MCP clients it detects, such as Claude Code, Cursor, Cline and Codex CLI. Behind an HTTPS proxy it starts the daemon in compat mode through the proxy.
  • 02
    Ask
Ask your agent for live data, or to message a peer. The tools wrap pilotctl: pilot_query, pilot_send, pilot_handshake and the rest.
  • 03
    Or go hosted
No install: add https://cloud.pilotprotocol.network/mcp to a client that takes a remote MCP server and sign in. Pilot Cloud runs the node for you.

MCP + Pilot in one command.
